Biography
From the streets of Cleveland, Ohio, artist DMORR has dominated the church and jazz scene for many years with his outstanding talent. DMORR’s skill on the trumpet has skyrocketed his career since he began playing in 1975. DMORR coming from a prestigious line of jazz musicians, cemented his destiny as a jazz player. DMORR’s storied career includes playing on the stage with other jazz greats and groups and creating great music in the recording studio. DMORR released his solo debut album, titled “Sample This,” in 2001. The album featured a moving duet between DMORR and his daughter. It also solidified his position as a solo artist.
DMORR has written over 400 songs to date. His discography is impressive, featuring multiple albums and singles. His tracks are supported by his equally talented band members. DMORR writes songs that leave an impact on listeners. His song “‘Black Man in America’ is a depiction of the struggles of a Black Man in America (as part of the album “THE BLACK EXPERIENCE – Vol I”) and a Black history lesson rolled up into a funky groove with enticing horns.” DMORR’s music is unique as it combines many musical genres and is credited from industry insiders to have timeless layers of melody within his songs, including R&B and Latin, with thought-provoking lyrics. DMORR’s repertoire is always a musical journey, taking listeners to a magical place.
DMORR cites that he is inspired by musicians Tom Brown, Luther Vandross and Quincy Jones. The artist aspires to be great like these three. DMORR’s performance history already cements his place as a jazz great. He has played at Cleveland’s famous Severance Hall and Quicken Loans Arena as well as at music festivals. DMORR has toured across the US with the bands he has played with over the years.
DMORR always makes time to write songs on a continuous basis and keeps the music alive. He aspires to win Album(s) of the Year and other awards from the Grammy’s and other award platforms in the near future. DMORR has already fulfilled his legacy of passing down to his daughter and accomplished writer and perfomer, a passionate love of music and jazz.
